The doors swung open and in front of them where they had expected a king to be sitting waiting graciously for there arrival, there was a dog sitting on the thrown. Matt looked at Ryan cleared his throat.
Matt: “oh Mario please help us, you have to save the king”
Ryan: “ha-ha nice one.”
King: “save me from what?”
They turned around to see the king come in just behind them. The dog jumped off the thrown and ran off.
King: “sorry I went out to see how the rebuild was going.”
Matt: “yea good luck, umm we need directions…”
Ryan: “and horses… I don’t wanna wagon again…”
King: “you’re the two headed to Kelnore?”
Ryan: “that would be us”
King: “well we don’t have much to spare, we will give you a single horse and a carriage to aid you.”
Matt: “upgrade from a wagon”
King: “indeed, there isn’t much of a way to get lost, just head out the north path from town, then keep going until you reach town, no turns off the trail, when it splits choose the middle one.”
Matt: “ok”
King: “when your friends wake we’ll send them off after you to catch up, once you’re done saving Kelnore send word to us.”
Ryan: “go straight and call home when we get there, got it.”
King: “good luck, my son will see you out.”
A man came out of the shadows and walked towards the three of them fully armored a sword strapped onto his back, another at his side, as well as a small dagger by his ankle. He had what appeared to be a crude shotgun in one of his hands. On the back of his arms the armor was spiked upwards.
Matt: “well that’s encouraging”
Ryan: “my ass is so dead”
Patrick: “hurry up, we haven’t all day”
King: “goodbye, and good luck.”
The king walked towards his thrown and sat down on it. Patrick began walking out the large doors they came in. once out of the thrown room, Patrick turned to the left walking threw hallways and corridors, even up a few flights of stares, stopping at a door somewhere on the fourth floor up.
Patrick: “I want you to pull yourselves together now, because you may not like what you see”
he opened the door, and in the room were two maids one looking after Kyle and one looking after Nick. Kyle’s eyes were closed; it looked as if he was sleeping, Nick was in the same shape, only he didn’t have as big of a smile on his face. Looking at both of them felt different, almost as if there hearts had stopped beating. Time stood still in a sense…
Patrick: “when you are done here I will be waiting outside”
Patrick walked out the door closing it behind him. Ryan took a minute to walk up next to them and look at them closely. Matt went to talk with their caretakers.
Matt: “Ryan… don’t die.”
Ryan: “kay…”
They walked outside where Patrick was, he lead them down the hall a little more and down about three flights of stairs stopping at another door labeled “armory”.
Patrick: “find a piece of armor that fits you, then choose a sword, next a shield, and lastly leg armor and a helmet.”
Opening the door and walking in Matt and Ryan looked around to see a number of armor and weapons, differing size and shapes. Ryan walked over grabbed some chain armor, a small sword, and a steel shield. Matt grabbed two dagger holsters and tied one to left ankle, and the other to his right calf muscle, next taking a chain armored shirt, he grabbed a sword to strap on his back, and a shield to join it. They then walked outside to join Patrick.
Patrick: “word is that you have killed a good number of monsters with your bare hands… so I will not ask if you know how to use the weapons you’ve selected.”
Before they could reply he continued to walk them down another flight of stares and outside near the stables. Grabbing a horse he walked it over to a waiting carriage tying the horse to it, and explaining how to steer.
Patrick: “remember to take breaks when she gets tired, do not push her, and feed her. It may take a day or two to get there, so when you set up camp make sure she does not run away or you’ll be walking.”
Matt: “Got yah”
Ryan: “and were off!”
They rode away from the castle up the path, thick forestry on ether side of them.
Amy: “who are they”
Patrick: “do not worry yourself with them.”
Amy: “why not?”
Patrick: “they will not be returning here, let us go inside”
Turning around and walking Amy back into the castle Patrick snapped his fingers and a small section of the forest shifted. Amy turned around to look at the trees shuffling.
Amy: “only a few of the trees are moving… what an odd wind…”
Matt: “oh Mario please help us, you have to save the king”
