Right foot came up abrupt with flames. Left hand came down solid and unmoving, grappling around the leg tightly, gripping. The right fist came across to hit but was interrupted by a streaking beam of light.
Adam: “that’s enough, stop it now.”
Charon: “Ryan… I want you to understand that style of combat may have been good where you came from… where everyone is equal, but here a third dimension of power is added. You’ll need to adjust your fighting style to suit it.”
Matt had carried Kyle inside the shrine and laid him down on the bench behind Philip, then sat down.
Matt: “what you reading?”
Philip: “the greatest battles in history, and where the hero’s went”
Matt: “anything interesting?”
Philip: “well… I went threw the index and believe it or not…”
Matt: “I’ll believe it, if that’s okay with you.”
Philip: “yes, well I found a battle in the index called ‘Rips Retaliation’ so I looked it up and found out that there was an army of 50 kings each wielding armies of around 10,000 men, they went up against this demon king, he had this huge army of millions. There was a small group of solders known as “The Mystic” there were 18 soldiers in total. They went in ahead of the army, and took the number of enemies down from millions to hundreds. By the end of this there were 15 left. And the king’s troops came in to help out. After the remaining demons had been destroyed the demon king himself came out, and killed the lot of them. 2 of the 15 were wounded so they stayed behind and were looked after by a third member. The 12 of them went off and eventually killed the demon king. But by the end only the 3 that stayed behind were alive. Using a special form of magic, the 12 other members had there souls sent to take up residence in new born children, in a different plane of existence. The battle was called ‘Rips Retaliation’ because the 3 who came back to tell the story said that they are not resting in peace. They are simply resting. And
‘Retaliation’ was there way of saying that they concurred death!”
Matt: “that’s a fucking sweet story”
Philip: “I’m not done... I’ve got to ask Adam and Charon about this still but there was a prophecy in the book I read yesterday about decedents of these fighters saving the world.”
Charon: “yes you are right; scholars have found that similarity too.”
Adam: “but the full story is that the 3 who remained here, 2 of them coasted a spell on themselves to send them to that other world as well.”
Philip: “could we be…”
Adam: “don’t even think of it. That happened thousands of years ago.”
Richard: “so I owned Ryan”
Charon: “I want you guys to spend the rest of the day training solo. I have to care to Kyle, he’ll be back up in an hour and then he’ll join you.”
Everyone nodded and walked back outside, Matt got up and joined them, Adam sat across from Philip, as Charon went to tend to Kyle.
Adam: “you’re a vivid reader I see”
Philip: “the opposite actually”
Adam: “you’ve found out a lot about this world”
Philip: “you still haven’t told us why were here”
Adam: “look for a ‘did the king truly die?’ that will explain it”
Philip: “….hmmm…”
Adam: “that’s enough, stop it now.”
